You can grow up in the same nation with the same language; in the same city at the same high school; in the same neighborhood connected to the same peer group; and yet, LGBT+ people have "extra language" that gets added to their Growing Up LGBT+ experience as sexual and gender minorities. To dismiss this as "gay agenda" will mean we miss reaching LGBT+ people. Language sensitivity is true for every missionary reaching every people group across the globe. It is not a biblical compromise to be concerned about language; it is a missional necessity! In our work, we learned years ago that "words matter" so we set a missional ethic that we will live by: every word counts. It should not be surprising that what we say determines whether we build or lose trust - that's a human reality in all of our relationships. So let's dive into this critical segment covering key language guidance on what to say - and equally important, what not to say.
